Huehuetenango (say it “way-way-teh-NAN-go” if you’re feeling brave) is one of Guatemala’s most iconic coffee regions. Around 80% of the local population relies on coffee to make a living – it’s not just a crop, it’s a way of life.
We source this lot through Primavera, a green coffee importer who don’t just move coffee around. They’re in it to make things fairer, better and more balanced – especially for farmers.
This one’s called the Sisterhood blend – grown entirely by women in Huehuetenango. In coffee, women do a huge chunk of the work but often miss out on land, training, funding and decision-making power. Primavera’s changing that. They work directly with smallholder women farmers, paying premiums for top-grade coffees (84–85 points, if you’re counting) with full traceability back to the farm. The extra money goes towards workshops that give these women even more tools to grow, thrive and lead.
We’re not into buzzwords or empty promises. We back importers who do the work, not just talk about it – because better coffee only comes from better systems. This one’s a small step but it’s one that matters.
